Jonas Brothers

New Album 6/23/09 9:36 PM

Mallory and I took off with the Zorn family to Tulsa last night for a quick girls trip to see the Jonas Brothers. Mallory, Madi, and Madi's cousin Haley went to the concert. Melanie and I walked in the 107 degree heat, had dinner and a great evening of talking while the girls attended the concert. We had a blast, they all looked so super cute. They came of the concert wired, at least Mallory did. I think we finally got to bed at 1:30 or 2. We had a great time and hope to do another road trip with them in the future.

Father's Day

New Album 6/23/09 9:34 PM

We celebrated Father's Day with Chris at our house on Saturday since Mallory would be with her Dad most of Sunday. He got a lot of great gifts! I stole an idea from a friend (Kim) and had Mallory design notepads for all the Dad's in our family. They all turned out really cute! On Sunday Mick decided not to take a nap, lucky us! We made sheet cake and homemade ice cream for dinner at Mom's house. Hope everyone had a great day. I think my husband is the greatest Dad!!!!

One last party!

New Album 6/14/09 10:10 PM

Tonight we had a party for Mick with our neighborhood friends. We cooked out and then got lucky enough that the sun came out and the kids got to swim for a little while. We are so lucky to have such great neighbors that have become wonderful friends. Mick was a little unsure when all the sudden the house was full of people. I think he has had enough moving around with our vacation, parties and company. Happy birthday my precious baby boy! I love you!

Day at the Zoo, and Grandma & Grandpa Madsen visiting.

New Album 6/13/09 10:33 PM

Today we got up and spent the morning at the Zoo with Chris's parents. We hadn't been to the Zoo together as a family since before Mick was born. Mick was busy the whole time we were there and played with his tractor more than he enjoyed the animals but oh well, we had fun. Chris's parents are here until tomorrow and then they are heading back to Iowa. Mallory got to swim this afternoon. She then went to her Dad's house for the night. We grilled out hamburgers for dinner and I actually made a dessert for everyone! I know, I normally hate to cook but I got a couple of really easy and good recipes this past weekend. Mick played hard outside and crashed tonight. He is having a great birthday weekend. One more party to go!

Mick's is TWO!

New Album 6/12/09 11:45 PM

I can't believe Mick is two today. Ok, I guess I can, he is getting his two year molars, learning to throw wonderful temper tantrums, busy as ever. Guess that all comes with turning two! Mick had a great day today. Started out with Mommy and Sister singing to him in his crib, quickly followed by chocolate donuts for breakfast and a super cute video from his cousin Walter which we watched at least 20 times. Next we went to gym class, then back home for nap time. Chris's parents arrived for the weekend and we headed to my Mom's house for a family dinner. He got a ton of great gifts, most of them have wheels! When we arrived home he was ready to crash and go to bed. What a fun day!

Flowers!

I love flowers but am allergic to all of them. This year I decided I didn't care I wanted to have beautiful flower beds and I think we are on our way! I am learning as I go but enjoying every bit of it!

Trip to Pittsburgh

New Album 6/9/09 5:28 PM

We just returned this afternoon from spending 5 days at my Dad's house is Pittsburgh, PA. We had a great weekend, Laura and her family drove in from Cincinnati as well. As usual we had so much fun watching the kids play. We didn't do any big outings just played around the house. The kids both did great on the flights, I always get worried that Mick will be hard and he always proves me wrong! Walter is at such a cute age, saying such cute phrases. He called Starbucks the "Island of Starbucks" so cute! Also he didn't quite understand how there could be a boy and girl Chris so he calls my Chris "Uncle Chris" and my Dad's wife Chris "People." I could spend all day listening to him. Overall it was a great trip and we can't wait to see everyone again in a few weeks when baby Bachmann arrives!

Neighborhood Pool Opening Party

New Album 6/4/09 4:53 PM

You all know how much I love to volunteer:) This year I signed up to be co-chair of our neighborhood social committee with my neighbor and friend Jessica. We had a great turn out Saturday and tons of fun with the DJ, Moonwalk, Pool, Pizza, and Pop. Here are a few pictures of the evening.

Mick's early b-day present!

We decided to get Mick an early birthday present this year. Sometimes on Sunday evenings we ride our bikes to Pizza Hut with our neighbors. Mick always gets to ride in the cart with Abbie and loves it! Last time he cried almost through the whole dinner because he wanted back in the cart. This night we went on an hour long ride and he loved it!
Mick says no pictures Mommy just rides!
Going for a test ride!

I want to go again!

Last afternoon of third grade!

New Album 6/4/09 4:51 PM

I had to many cute pictures to put them on individually so I added an album. Can't wait to see who we have as a teacher next year and what friends she continues on with!

Last morning of school!

This morning was a bittersweet one for me. I was so ready for summer but at the same time loved Mallory's teacher and all of the kids in her class. I will admit most of all I enjoyed all of the great Mom friends that I made this year!
Mallory gave these bags of cookies out to all the staff at school.  Our way of saying thanks!

Poor Mick hated getting up and first thing off to school each morning.

Diorama presentation day.

All of the third grade classes spent the afternoon presenting their Diorama's. Each student was to choose an animal, do some basic research and then make a Diorama representing their animals habitat. We didn't have much direction and I was really glad when this project was over! I might just save this one until Mick is in third grade! Mallory ended up choosing a Cheetah and we had a great time working together on this project.

I loved this sign on her desk.

Our neighbors Jessica and Abbie came up to visit and seem Mal's project.

SRC Assembly

Mallory received a medal at school for reading over 200 SRC points this year. If you remember from a previous post if they read 150 points they got to sleepover at school. Next year I am pushing for 300 points. Great job Mallory! We are proud of you!

Grandma's 60th Birthday!

My Mom turned 60 this year two days after Mother's day. We were all going to take a girls trip together this year but we just couldn't get the weekends worked out so we might have to try for a 61st b-day girls trip. We had a crazy day and usual and so did Mom. I went to get her cake at the Great American Cookie Co. that I had ordered several weeks earlier just to find that they went out of business. I ended up running to Cherri's and got a replacement cake, although we have done cookie cakes for years as our family tradition, Mallory was really sad. We went to Red Robin for dinner that night and then back to Mom's house for cake and presents. Happy Birthday Mom!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a great one this year! I got to sleep in and Chris and the kids got me Panera for breakfast. We enjoyed a lazy afternoon and then headed to the Wichita Country Club for dinner. Mallory made paintings for all of the ladies in our family this year. Here are a few pictures of her creations!

Enjoying ice cream from Marble slab.

As a special treat for Mallory we let her pick where she wanted to have dinner and take a friend. She chose Sumo and we all had a great time. Even Mick enjoyed watching his meal being prepared! Mallory and Ashton got all dressed up and looked super cute. Afterwards we headed to Marble Slab for any type of ice cream they wanted. It was a super fun evening!

Teacher Appreciation Week

New Album 6/4/09 3:39 PM

As if we didn't already have enough going on this week, it was also teacher appreciation week! I hate to admit but since it was a couple of weeks ago I have forgotten exactly what we did each day, but here goes a shot. On Monday each child was to take her favorite drink which is Diet Dr. Pepper. Tuesday they were supposed to bring something that was her favorite color which is red, we got her a Target gift card since it was red and she likes to shop there. Wednesday we were supposed to bring her favorite snack, red licorice. Thursday the children were all supposed to write Mrs. S. a personal thank you card. I also took cookies and a pictured of the class signed by all of the children in the class.

Mick

New Album 6/3/09 11:10 PM

Since most of my blogging lately seems to be all about Mallory I wanted to post some cute pictures of Mick. He is growing up so fast. Hard to believe he will be two next Friday!

Spring Party

New Album 6/3/09 11:09 PM

To end a very busy day of school Mallory's class got to have their Spring party. The theme for the party was "Star Sightings." These kids are truly our stars and we wanted to have a super fun day. We all worked together and everything matched perfectly. Each child got a t-shirt with their class picture for autograph. A cookie with their name on it, a water bottle personalized with their name. They got to end the party with a slide show of baby pictures followed by a current picture with their baby picture. The party was a blast and I LOVED all the Mom's that I got to work with this year.
